about

The war has been going on for almost two years now, with no end in sight. Now another war has started, even worse, if that is possible. What can we do?

lyrics

Watching the news I can’t believe my eyes
Death and destruction raining down from the sky
Burned out apartments, hospitals, and schools.
An uncivil war, no Geneva rules.
Still the bombs keep falling day after day
I don’t know what? Is there nothing I can say?

CH
I will plant sunflowers for the people of Ukraine
sunflowers hold up their heads all through the pouring rain
Sunflowers will remember the people of Ukraine
Standing up (Fighting) for their country, time and time again.

V2
Women and children crossing the borders
Away from the war, no direction, no orders.
A few toys, and pets, escaping the deluge
Where will they go to find any refuge
Still the bombs keep falling, day after day
I don’t know what I can do? Is there nothing I can say?
CH

V3
A young soldier kisses his wife goodbye
The men stay to fight, they would any way
Missiles fall like bombs and bombs fall like rain
Going back to fight and fight again.
Still the bombs keep falling day after day
I don’t know what? Is there nothing I can say?
CH
Bridge
An old woman walking along the streets of Karchiv
Comes to a group of Russian soldiers
Standing around smoking cigarettes, spitting on the sidewalk
Go home! She said You do not belong here
What are you doing here
Why do you come here to destroy our homeland
many have tried this before, you will not prevail, as they have not
They said Go away old woman or we will shoot you, too
We have our orders
She reaches into her bag and pulls out handfuls of sunflower seeds,
Handing them to the soldiers she says
Here, put these in your pockets,
Fill your pockets with these seeds
Nothing good ever comes from war
at least when you die here, and you will die here,
out there on the battlefield, maybe something good will grow
Maybe something good will come from this war
CH

V4
Volodomir stands with all his ministers
Stands against the comies and the commissars,
We are not going anywhere, we won’t do that
We will stand up against all the kleptocrats
Still the bombs keep falling day after day
I don’t know what? Is there nothing I can say?
CH
(Final)
Standing up (Fighting) for their homeland, time and time, and time and time, and time and time again.

Short version
An old woman walks down the street of Karkhiv
Handing out sunflower seeds to the Russian soldiers
Standing around smoking cgarettes and spitting on the sidewalk
Here she says, take these seeds
Fill up your pockets with these
Nothing good ever comes from war
But, at least, when you die here, and you will die here,
Out there on the battlefield
Maybe something good will grow
Maybe something good will grow.
